Tuesday's meeting was clearly productive. Created a new site through a different platform and so far this is working better for me. I don't have to get caught up in the design minutiae (which I do enjoy, but can overthink) and instead, focus on my content this week. On that note, lets get straight to the goals.
Continue to grow my yoga practice as both a teacher and student.
Taught a vinyasa class on Monday night focused on the concept of Satya. This is the second of the yamas or ethical boundaries for living one's yoga "Off the mat." The easiest translation into English is "truth" but the literal root word from Sanskrit is "Sat" or "That which is" which i feel is more nuanced. Truth itself can be skewed by individual perception. Satya, requires focusing beyond one's biases, personal history, and perceptions to find what remains. We focused on the Mantra of "Sat Nam" (truth is my nature) and used the Kali Mudra with breath and movement for slicing through false beliefs we have held on to about ourselves. I closed class with Pavamana Mantra, which I'm really loving right now.
I taught the same sequence in my class at the brewery, and challenged myself to observe and cue verbally over consistently modeling while practicing with my students. On friday I created a yin sequence for class using the same theme. This is my mid-morning class of maybe 2-4 students on a given day so I was pleasantly surprised to find that 8 people had registered. That was so rewarding to lead.
2. Decluttering and clearing space.....
It was a busy week and right now... so there was less focus here. I see a connection here, as I was not as devoted to my meditation and cleansing practices this week beyond saining with herbs on Thursday. It did make the house smell lovely and in spite of the chaos, i felt relatively calm and feeling less judgemental about it. There is a purpose to the chaos, from gathering tax documents together, reading research for a workshop I'm planning, music I was previewing, scores I am preparing. All the same, I am making space in my schedule this week to tidy up common areas again. There was, however, gratitude to my partner and father in law for home repairs and projects that are necessary for maintaining the comfort of our home.
3. Building a professional practice in Thai Massage.....
Gave and received bodywork with my Mentor and had a very productive meeting creating the new site. Together we are giving couples massages next week for Valentines days.
4. Advocating and marketing myself-
I would say the time working on the site and this blog are tangible evidence of my efforts this week. Still a work in progress but this looks useable.
5. Preparing for Cambodia-
Sent out the application and my old passport to the State Department for Renewal.
